The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Ekiti State University
Teaching Hospital (UTH), Dr. Patrick Adegun has eulogized the State
Governor; Engr. Segun Oni for the establishment of the
Ophthalmological Centre in the UTH, describing the Eye Centre as the
best in the country.
Dr. Adegun, who was speaking during a visit to the governor yesterday,
said; "the only Eye Centre that can compete with the one established
in the State is Eye Centre in Kano.
Desirous to have more students of
Ekiti State origin as beneficiaries of the State 2010/2011 Scholarship Award,
the State government has extended the collection and submission of the Scholarship
Forms till Friday, July 30, 2010.
Chief Press Secretary to the
Governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre said in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti today and
made available to journalists, that the Scholarship Scheme, which is for
NCE, HND, undergraduate, Masters Degree, PhD, aviation students, students
studying foreign language and physically challenged undergraduate students was
part of the state government's intervention programmes.
The governor's spokesperson
disclosed that under the Scholarship Scheme, N253 million was disbursed to
2,031 students between 2008 and 2009.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has
condemned the invasion of the premises of the State owned broadcasting stations,
Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State (BSES) with thugs over alleged broadcast of
offensive story on the stations, saying; "by this action, which is barbaric,
the AC has again demonstrated that it is a party of hooligans and gangsters.?
The PDP in a statement issued by
the State Chairman, Chief Bola Olu-Ojo and made available to journalists in
Ado-Ekiti today, said; ?What the AC chairman, Mr. Jide Awe and his thugs did at
the BSES premises is to say the least, animalistic."
The Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) in Ekiti State has decried the invasion of the Appeal Court, Ilorin,
Kwara State with thugs and Juju, saying; no amount of rituals and gangterism
can change the will of God.?
The PDP in a statement issued by
the State Chairman, Chief Bola Olu-Ojo and made available to journalists in
Ado-Ekiti today, said; ?that the AC people could take their diabolism and
thuggery to faraway Ilorin has confirmed that the party is averse to peace and
rule of law.
Ekiti State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has expressed joy over the release
of four officials of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) kidnapped
last week, urging the police and other security agencies in the country
to fight the menace of kidnapping and other crimes currently ravaging
the country with sincerity and patriotism.
Speaking through his
Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, Governor Oni said the case of
the journalists has once again presented Nigeria as a nation under
siege, adding that the police and all other security agents in the
country must save the country from the embarrassment.
